ABOUT LUMINOUS BODY project
“Luminous Body” was a site-specific project firstly showed in a de-sacralised church in Pula, Croatia, nowadays owned by the Archaeological Museum of Istria – AMI, Croatia.
This project is built from multimedia material based on photography, collages, light installations in space, interactive technology and costumes. The exhibition material was divided in 3 groups: Time, Space and Self Conciseness – in order to present a personal view on a “Contemporary Sanctuary”, freed from any religion.
Installations that are part of a “Time group” ( “Cocoon”, “Nighties” ) are constructed as light installations and are referring to a process of time that one needs in order to grow and to become a conscious human being. It is also referring to a process of a introspection.
“The Transits Game / Planets” was located in a centre of the church navy. It is an interactive installation made form landscape photographs that were used to depict planets from our Solar system. This Solar system is representing the awareness of Space, and by playing the classic game with a stone that you throw on the floor- starting from the nearest planet (Mercury), toward the farthest (Pluto) – spectators could playfully redefine their perception of space.
On the end of the church nave, the church apsidal was illuminated with Windows Kinect and programmed to detect the movements of the body of the spectators entering the apsidal space. The Kinect System was reflecting a pulsating light burst onto the spectator body, with the effect of a star burst.
The photographs and costumes were part of the “Self-Conciseness group”. The left side of the church was depicting the lunar, feminine, introspective side, while the right side of the church, was chosen for the photography that represented the solar, masculine, active side of the self.
Shaman’s kit is a costume set made of different organic materials that were found in nature. The costume and the tools were made intuitively with the focus on health and self-healing. The process of making the material was a ritual process of manifesting a special robe and tools for health and protection. ©
